• The recent non-binding referendum on Essequibo’s annexation launched by Venezuelan President Maduro;
• Maduro’s plans to explore Essequibo’s resources, heightening tensions with Guyana and its supporters, like the United States;
• The bilateral meeting between Irfaan Ali, President of Guyana, and Maduro, moderated by the CELAC;
• Why the invasion of the Essequibo remains an unlikely scenario, due to the increased risk of sanctions to Venezuela from the US;
