In this paper, we discuss:

  • The UN’s deepening financial and political crisis amid declining US support.
  • The creation of Trump’s “Board of Peace” as a selective, centralised alternative to UN multilateralism;
  • Governance concerns over its invitation-only structure and chairman-led decision-making;
  • Strong resistance from key US allies citing legitimacy and constitutional issues;
  • A broader shift from rules-based multilateralism toward more transactional, power-driven diplomacy.
